National Capital Commission
Canada

As part of the Capital Core Area planning exercise, the NCC developed a more comprehensive plan for the visitor experience of the core area, providing a vision, principles and objectives and recommending orientations and developments for 13 districts in the core area and along two routes that visitors experience in distinct ways.

This vision is the result of a two-year planning process that involved input from experts throughout the region and engaged key stakeholders, programming partners and interest groups in its development; it was approved by the NCC in June 2005.

The vision describes how the core area needs to change in the future to meet the needs of visitors to the Capital and to properly represent Canada and Canadians. It outlines principles and strategies for the public experience of the core area and provides direction for the NCC’s future programming activities. The planning horizon is 2067, the beginning of Canada’s third century.
