Physical Activity Contribution Program: Supporting Healthy Living for Canadians

The Physical Activity Contribution Program: Supporting Healthy Living for Canadians is an important means by which the Public Health Agency of Canada carries out its mandate and achieves its goals to help Canadians improve their health through regular physical activity. Recognizing that health is a shared responsibility, contribution funding is also a means by which the Agency supports and engages the voluntary sector to effect change, improve situations, and collaborate on activities of mutual benefit. Partnerships and collaborative action between governments, non-government organizations, and other agencies, help to reduce barriers and increase access to convenient, safe, affordable, and attractive opportunities to integrate physical activity into daily living.

2005-2006 Physical Activity Contribution Program - Open Call for Proposals.

On behalf of Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), I am pleased to forward for your consideration the 2005-06 Call For Proposals for the Physical Activity Contribution Program: Supporting Healthy Living for Canadians.

The Physical Activity Contribution Program is an important means by which the Public Health Agency of Canada carries out its mandate and achieves its goals toward healthy living and helping Canadians improve and maintain their health through regular physical activity. Recognizing that health is a shared responsibility, contribution funding is also a means by which PHAC supports and engages the voluntary sector to effect change, improve situations, and collaborate on activities of mutual benefit. Partnerships and collaborative action between governments, non-government organizations, and other agencies, help to reduce barriers and increase access to convenient, safe, affordable, and attractive opportunities to integrate physical activity into daily living.

The Contribution Program Guidelines, along with specific application forms (in Annex) are attached below. These will also be posted on the PHAC Web site . These materials outline all aspects of the Physical Activity Contribution Program, and are intended to help applicants prepare proposals for consideration of contribution funding by PHAC.

Please note the following key points:

  • To be eligible for funding consideration, applicants must be a not-for-profit, incorporated, national organization.
  • A Project Proposal (see Form B) must be submitted for each project being applied for. Each project proposal must not exceed seven (7) pages in length.
  • The deadline for receipt of full proposals is noon, Friday, January 21, 2005.
  • Please note that there is no longer an Operational Support Category. Therefore administrative requirements should be included within the funding request for each Proposals, (see Guidelines for details).

New applicants are encouraged to submit a letter of intent prior to developing a full proposal for consideration. The letter of intent should briefly outline the proposed activities for which contribution funding would be requested. Every effort will be made to provide feedback on letters of intent within five working days of their receipt, (see Guidelines for details).

If you require further information regarding a submission, please contact Jeff Di Bacco by phone at (613) 946-4641 or by e-mail: jeff_di_bacco@phac-aspc.gc.ca
