Main Emission Sources
Estimated total NOx emissions in Canada in year 2000 were 2,578,496 tonnes (without open sources e.g. forest fires, prescribed burning). The primary emitting sources are:
- transportation sources (e.g. on-road and off-road motor vehicles and engines, rail)
- fossil-fuelled electric power plants
- upstream oil and gas industry (e.g. natural gas plants, oil sands)
