Search Tips

The search page serves as the home page for AgriWeb Canada.

The following search options are available:

• keyword
• subject
• author
• all sites or new sites
• geographic coverage

Keyword

Keyword search is not case sensitive. Search results are from titles and descriptions.

Keyword(s) may be combined with one or more regions from the list in Geographic coverage, e.g., search the word "cereal" and from the Geographic coverage select "Manitoba".

Subject

Selecting Subject - Dewey tree takes you to the broad subject groups (modeled on the Dewey Decimal Classification System). Clicking on any of these produces a listing of related sites within the group.

Selecting Subject - Alphabetical index produces a page displaying an alphabetical listing of subjects, featuring an index to help you navigate to the desired letter quickly. Those familiar with the site can click directly on the desired index letter without going to the index page.

For instance, if you are looking for Horticulture, you may select... F G H I J and move readily to the H's.

Author

Author is defined as either an individual (i.e., Jane Smith) or an organization (i.e., Canadian Angus Association).

Selecting Author - Alphabetical index produces a page displaying an alphabetical listing of all available authors.

Select the letter if you know the name of the author: e.g., ...Q R S T U...to find I. Small amongst the S's.

All Sites or New Sites

AgriWeb Canada is updated weekly. New sites are added to the complete listing, and are also offered as a separate listing so that those who visit often can quickly note the latest additions. An archive of new sites is available for the last four weeks' additions.

You may reduce the search to one region or more (see section below), or search all regions by default.

Selecting the All of Canada results in an alphabetical index of all sites.

Geographic Coverage

It is possible to search for sites in all regions of Canada or in one or more selected regions. By default, selection is set to All of Canada (Canada, Territories, Provinces). Selecting Canada is not the same as selecting All of Canada. There may be sites which are national in scope, but which may not contain information pertaining to individual provinces or territories.

It is possible to select one region or more by selecting the first, then making additional selections while holding down the Ctrl key.

Combined search can be done by selecting one or more regions and keyword(s).
