Take a Look at PBI
Our research combines an understanding and application of plant physiology, tissue culture, genomics, developmental studies, molecular biology, imaging, and chemistry. Strategic technologies including the study of genomics and proteomics, modifying plants for increased value, and improving plant performance are our three broad areas of research. For more information on research at NRC-PBI visit our research page.
At NRC-PBI you will find state of the art facilities including: DNA sequencing and synthesis, NMR imaging, bioinformatics, and mass spectrometry. Researchers also benefit from computer services, a purchasing department, and the CISTI library, which has the largest science and technical collection in the world.
The NRC Plant Biotechnology Institute is located in Saskatoon, Canada, home to one of the world's foremost agricultural biotechnology clusters. NRC-PBI is located minutes away from Canada's only synchrotron facility (http://www.cls.usask.ca/), various University of Saskatchewan (http://www.usask.ca/) departments, other provincial and federal research agencies and numerous private companies at Innovation Place, a research and development park. Several plant biotechnology companies are incubating within NRC-PBI facilities. For more information about the agricultural biotechnology cluster in Saskatoon please read the article in the PBI bulletin.
