Custom Peptides - Resources
The Peptides Facility offers the production of peptides using both synthetic and recombinant methodologies.
Peptide Synthesis is performed using an automated instrument (Advanced Chemtech MPS 396), which allows the rapid production of very high quality multiple (up to 96 at the same time) synthetic peptides employing Fmoc chemistry. The synthesizer has the option of conditional double-coupling (if needed) for difficult amino acid sequences. Standard operation routinely provides several mg of peptide with no more than a two weeks turn-around time. The Facility is also equipped with a Protein Technologies PS3 desktop synthesizer. The PS3 instrument can synthesize up to three peptides in parallel using the t-Boc Chemistry.

The BRI proprietary recombinant peptide technology has proven particularly cost-effective for making peptides of large sizes, from 30 up to 80 amino acid residues; i.e. peptides that are often difficult to synthesize chemically.
The Facility also contains a complete complement of HPLC with a state-of-the-art Knauer software system, and other accessories necessary for peptide purification and characterization.
