Services to Business

Visitors are permitted to use the Information Centre only when there is staff available. NIC staff, Dianne Pammett, Information Specialist, and Wendy Jean Johnston, Client Services Officer, are on site from 8:30 - 12:00 and 1:00 - 4:30 Monday to Friday excluding Federal Holidays. Please phone for an appointment to ensure staff is available to serve you.

Visitors may borrow books, photocopy journal articles for a fee. Each borrower will be registered on-site. Previously registered clients should bring their CISTI account number with them. Books are loaned for one month period, and must be returned on time. Journal issues must not be removed from the information centre.

The Information Specialist can perform literature searches and patent searches on you behalf. The online cost of the search and a service fee will be charged.

CISTI Virtual Library site is maintained for the use of NRC staff only. Access is available from the public access computers in the NIC. Access to the catalogue of our collection, Current Contents, CISTI Source Table of Contents Service, some full-text electronic journals, and many other useful materials are available through the Virtual Library site. A username and password are required for CISTI Source and for requesting books on loan, or copies of journal articles. Training sessions on the use of the Virtual Library site are held periodically.
