The Inventors Guide

Design & Development

If you want assistance with the design and development of your product, you can begin by looking in the telephone directory under Model Makers, Pattern Makers, Designers-Industrial, Engineers-Electronics, Machine Shops, Plastics-Moulding and Laminating, and Research and Development Companies.

Also contact manufacturers and fabricators (i.e. steel, glass, metal, textiles, etc.), as some of these shops will do prototypes.

Consultants

If you need help with industrial design and/or cost estimates, you may need to hire an experienced industry consultant. The National Research Council (http://www.nrc.ca This link leaves our Web site) or the Canadian Technology Network (http://ctn.nrc.ca This link leaves our Web site) can help you find consultants.
