Description: Over the past few years, every major Federal Department has been involved in the development and implementation of an Informal Conflict Management System (ICMS) to deal with workplace conflict more effectively. These systems are based upon the application of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) processes. While the vast majority of these have been highly successful, a surprising number appear to have fallen short of meeting expectations. Peter Sterne has a wealth of experience in this field. He has been extensively involved in the development, implementation and evaluation of a broad array of ICMS’ and ADR processes in both the public and private sectors, and has come to understand the conditions which determine success or failure. He will share perspectives on avoiding pitfalls and creating the conditions for success.
