Re-evaluation Decision Document (RRD).Top of Page

Proposed Regulatory Decision Documents
PRDD Series

These documents are used to consult stakeholders prior to making a final decision for full registration on a newly registered active ingredient, or a major new use for an already registered active ingredient.

The document summarizes the Agency's review of data supporting the application and outlines the reasons for the proposed regulatory decision. The consultation period following the publication of a PRDD is normally 45 days. After the comments from stakeholders are considered, a final decision is made, and a Regulatory Decision Document (RDD).

The former Discussion and the Consultation series are now contained in this category.

Reduced-Risk Update
(RR Series)
The Update on Reduced-Risk Products and Uses provides information on the registration of reduced-risk pest control products and uses in Canada.
Regulatory Decision Documents
RDD Series

Decision documents are used to announce the Agency's final decision concerning an application for a new active ingredient, a major new use of an existing active ingredient, or a special review. Decision documents normally follow a Proposed Regulatory Decision Document (PRDD).

The document summarizes the comments received during the consultation period and explains how the comments affected the final decision.

Regulatory Directives
DIR Series
This series provides specific instructions regarding application and submission procedures, data requirements, or presents new or updated guidelines. In these cases, a DIR document will be preceded by a Regulatory Proposal (PRO). Regulatory Directives are also used to provide clarification and explanations of the Agency's interpretation of a guideline or legislation. This type of DIR would not be preceded by a PRO.

The former Trade Memorandum series is now included in this category.

Regulatory Notes
REG Series

A Regulatory Note provides a status report on the regulatory position of a pest control product or active ingredient. It is not a consultation document and does not solicit comments from stakeholders. It would contain the same level of information as a Proposed Regulatory Decision Document (PRDD).

A Regulatory Note would be used in situations where there is a temporary (Section 17) registration or time-limited (Section 13) registration. Conditions for a Regulatory Note include the need for additional data, or adequate data but potential for delay in a joint review registration. The public would be consulted through the PRDD process at the point when a full registration can be proposed.

As outlined above, the consultation period following the publication of a PRDD is normally 45 days. After the comments from stakeholders are considered, a final decision is made, and a Regulatory Decision Document (RDD) is produced.

The former Notes to CAPCO series is now included in this category.Top of Page

Regulatory Proposals
PRO Series
These documents are used to consult stakeholders on proposed regulatory changes, e.g., guidelines, policies and regulations. The comments received are given due consideration in drafting the ensuing Regulatory Directive (DIR). The consultation period is usually 60 days.

The former Memorandum to Registrants series is now included in this category.Top of Page

Re-evaluation Decision Documents
RRD Series

Re-evaluation Decision Documents are used to announce the Agency's final decision concerning an active ingredient which has been under re-evaluation in Canada.
