On-the-Job Training (OJT) is a risk-free, cost-saving program provided by the Workers' Compensation Board of Nova Scotia.
Eligibility Criteria
The On-the-Job Program offers assistance to employers of Nova Scotia who are interested in training workers that have been injured on the job.
Eligible Activities
Employers must provide valuable one-on-one training and experience to the employee selected.
Summary
The On-the-Job Training program provides a valuable employee at no cost or obligation. During OJT, the Workers' Compensation Board pays the employee's full wages and benefits. The Coordinator of Vocational Rehabilitation Services will visit with a prospective employer to help determine the employment needs, requirements and responsibilities. A Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor will then find an injured worker who is suitable for the position and arrange an interview.
Program Highlights:
- The program provides a worker/employee with new skills, as outlined in their vocational rehabilitation plan.
- Depending on the worker's needs and the requirements of the job, the employer may obtain technological support or adaptive devices for the employee's training period at no cost.
- The employer may retain the employee at the end of the training period.
