Fact Sheet

Kai Chan - Statement

The dichotomy in life is evident in every aspect of living as well as in making artwork.

Here is a list of pairings that I constantly think about:

day/night, sun/moon, positive/negative, have/have not, love/hate, foolish/wise, empty/full, frailty/strength, void/solid, open/closed, calm/excitement, happy/sad, fire/water, hot/cool, air/soil, sensuous/sensible, good/bad, body/mind, plain/colourful, fragment/whole, free/bound, holes/nails, silence/noise, restrain/expand, simple/complex, past/present, dream/real, now/then, here/there, east/west, up/down, heaven/earth.
