Yasmin Jivraj was appointed to the Board of Directors of CBC/Radio-Canada on April 21, 2005, for a three-year term.

A seasoned executive with more than 25 years' experience in information technology, Ms. Jivraj is President and co-owner of Acrodex, an information technology company. In 1988, she co-founded Atlas Systems Group, which merged with CompCanada in 2000 to become Acrodex.

In addition to her senior management role at Acrodex, Ms. Jivraj's business portfolio includes Dexcend Industrial Automation, Arcspan, Xenali Furnishings, and Edmonton's Khazana Restaurant.

Ms. Jivraj has served on the Board of Directors of the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation since 2002. A member of the Aga Khan Foundation Canada since 1993, Ms. Jivraj chairs its volunteer management subcommittee that oversees two annual events, namely the World Partnership Walk and the World Partnership Golf Days across Canada.

Other current board and advisory activities include the Edmonton Whitemud Constituency Board and as a MacEwan Colleague for the Grant MacEwan Community College. Ms. Jivraj is also a member of the University of Alberta's Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Science Visiting Committees, and co-founder of Women in Technology - Leap Toward the Future Program.

Yasmin Jivraj is past vice-president of the Canadian Information Processing Society - Edmonton Section, and past chair of the Canadian Information Processing Society's annual conference.

A graduate in Computing Science from the University of Alberta, Ms. Jivraj also holds designations of Certified Management Consultant from the Canadian Association of Management Consultants, and of Information Systems Professional from the Canadian Information Processing Society.

In 1999, Chatelaine magazine recognized Ms. Jivraj's outstanding contribution to the information systems industry by featuring her as one of Canada's 100 Women Entrepreneurs.

Yasmin Jivraj is married with two children and resides in Edmonton.
