Help

The search tool uses JavaScript and this functionality must be enabled in your browser for the application to function correctly.

The initial map displays polygons which outline all of the surveys in the catalogue.

You can reduce the number of polygons displayed by entering search parameters in the text boxes on the left of the window.  After you click the submit button, the map will be redrawn with only those surveys that match your search criteria.  The search parameters are explained in more detail below.

You can control the map display and obtain information about any of the surveys by using the five buttons at the top of the map.  The function of each button is described in the table below.  When a button is active, it will be displayed with a grey background.

Map Tools

icon_zoomout.gif icon_zoomout_s.gif Zoom out from a location.  Simply click on the mouse.  The map will zoom out by a fixed amount, centred on where you clicked the mouse.

Viewing large images at best quality

This Web site may provide links to very large detailed images that may exceed the browser window size even if the window is maximized. Some browsers have the capability of scaling these large images to fit in the browser window, but unfortunately this reduces the quality of the image and legibility of the information. If an image changes size to fill the browser window as the window is resized, the scaling feature has been enabled.

The scaling feature should be disabled to view the image at best quality, albeit requiring use of browser window scrollbars to view the entire image. To disable the image scaling:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer:
Select Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced, scroll down to the Multimedia section, and uncheck the Enable Automatic Image Resizing option.

  • Firefox:
Select Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> General and uncheck the Resize larger images to fit in the browser window option in the Browsing section.
