International Division About Us

Leadership and support for the Earth Science Sector's international activities is coordinated through the International Division of the Policy, Economic Analysis and Portfolio Coordination Branch. One of the International Division's key responsibilities is to provide overall direction for the Sector's international activities through the International Strategic Framework. The goal of the Strategic Framework is to help maximize the effectiveness of the Sector's international work and reinforce Canada's knowledge, technology, leadership and influence in the area of earth sciences. The Division is also responsible for coordinating and monitoring the Sector's international trade and investment activities. It promotes the use of Canadian earth sciences knowledge and technology overseas in partnership with the Canadian private sector. The Division also provides guidance to the Sector on business practices and works with Sector programs to ensure that the international activities they are involved in are fully aligned with the government's international priorities.

The Global Opportunities Program is an important part of our Sector's International Strategic Framework. The International Division works in close collaboration with this program to support its objective of enhancing the capacity of developing countries in their sustainable development while increasing the international market share of the Canadian earth sciences industry.
