Alien Invasives

Work on alien species has long been a key component of the Canadian Forest Service (CFS) research program. For much of the twentieth century the CFS made significant contributions to the understanding of such alien invaders as white pine blister rust, Dutch elm disease and Gypsy moth. More recently, Canadian and international attention has focused on preventing the global movement of alien species, on responding to recent establishments and on developing effective mitigation methods.

The links below describe some of the work ongoing in the CFS alien invasive species program with our partners in the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
