Canada Economic Development Priorities for the Bas-Saint-Laurent

1) SME development

  • To increase innovation and productivity in SMEs, particularly those in traditional sectors
  • To contribute to testing and experimentation activities that promote the sustainable and sound development and supply of natural resources, including sharing best practices and success stories
  • To develop technological entrepreneurship, particularly among young people and women in the region
  • To increase exports by promoting partnerships with specialized organizations

2) Improvement of the economic development environment

  • To contribute to the emergence of economic conditions conducive to regional inclusion and adjustment to the new global economic environment
  • To contribute to the development of the region as a centre of excellence in ocean science and information technology in line with the different governmental strategies
  • To contribute to increasing economic spinoffs associated with educational and research institutions
  • To promote networking among the different stakeholders in regional strategic sectors, specifically ocean science and technology

3) Specific initiative

In keeping with its priorities, CED, together with its network of partners, offers SMEs a variety of programs and services.
