What are the dangers associated with marijuana grow operations?
There are a variety of dangers associated with grow-ops, some of which are listed here. The surroundings in which marijuana is grown needs to be warm and humid and this creates an ideal environment for potentially dangerous mould and mould spores. In addition, in many situations electricity used is illegally and improperly routed through the house and can lead to electrocution or a potential fire hazard. Finally, there is the possibility that a grow site could be booby-trapped to deter police or crop thieves.
For additional information please see the “Clandestine Drug Operations: Awareness and Safety” Manual created by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs for first responders on the scene of a grow operation.
In no instance should you enter a residence suspected of housing a marijuana grow operation.
