The Registry Officer
Each Tribunal has a Registry Officer assigned to the
case. The individual assigned is deemed to be an "officer
of the court," responsible to the Tribunal. The Officer
is responsible for managing the logistical support services
necessary for conducting that hearing under the direction
of the Tribunal. Officers can also provide advice and guidance
to the members, counsel and parties on Tribunal practices
such as media coverage, scheduling of witnesses and future
hearing dates.
During the hearing, the Officer is responsible for receiving
and filing documents on behalf of the Tribunal, administering
the oath, recording a brief summary of the proceedings and
drafting orders under the specific direction of the Tribunal.
The Officer is the liaison between the members and the parties
in a case, as well as the public and media.
The Officer is also responsible for organizing the provision
of services to the Tribunal, and is available to assist
members with such matters as travel arrangements, or with
procedural matters during a hearing.
