  • 2005 Forest Health Report  1 MB
  • 2004 Forest Health Report
An annual survey of Yukon forests is done each year by staff of the Pacific Forestry Centre of the Canadian Forest Service with the help of staff of the Forest Management branch. This publication describes and discusses the continuing spruce bark beetle (Dendroctonus rufipennis) outbreak in the Shakwak Trench, spruce budworm findings from Beaver Creek to Watson Lake and other insect and disease species of interest and potential importance to the health of Yukon forests.
  • 2003 Forest Health Report
The Canadian Forest Service and Yukon Forest Management Branch work cooperatively on annual Forest Health Surveys. Canadian Forest Service experts collect and analyze forest health information about insect, disease and climatic damage from throughout the Yukon and prepare a report of their findings.
  • 2002 Forest Health Report
The 2002 Yukon Forest Health Report focuses primarily on the spruce beetle, Dendroctonus rufipennis, epidemic in southwest Yukon. This infestation has resulted in the death of mature white spruce over an area in excess of 250,000 hectares since first identified in 1994.

DRAFT STRATEGIC PLAN FOR THE GUNNAR NILSSON AND MICKEY LAMMERS RESEARCH FOREST

The Gunnar Nilsson and Mickey Lammers Research Forest was originally reserved in 1964 by the Canadian Forest Service for the purposes of forest research and forest management studies.

Following transfer to the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development in 1971 a number of studies were established and some infrastructure developed but no long term plans were ever put in place.

The forest came under Yukon government management in 2003 as a result of devolution.

This strategic plan is the beginning of a new era in forest research in Yukon.

The Yukon government, Forest Management branch is looking forward to guiding and directing forest related research in Yukon for the benefit of all Yukoners in the present and future.
