The Yukon MINFILE is a computerized mineral inventory
system that documents the exploration history and geology of metallic, industrial mineral and
coal occurrences in the Yukon. The database contains detailed descriptions of 2612 separate
mineral occurrences located throughout the Yukon Territory. Yukon MINFILE occurrences
are categorized according to the National Topographic System (NTS) of 1:250 000 scale map
sheets and each occurrence is assigned an unique identifying number within each NTS
sheet (e.g., 105D 079). The Yukon MINFILE database is the most complete reference
tool available for researching mineral occurrences in the Yukon. The 2005 update of
Yukon MINFILE incorporates data compiled up to October, 2005.
Text Files
These files incorporate the major text files (Work History, Geology and
References) in Yukon MINFILE and were created to provide the user with publication-quality
text in the style of its predecessors, the original Archer, Cathro and Associates
Northern Canada Mineral Inventory and the Yukon Geology Program’s WordPerfect text
files. Unlike earlier versions these records were created from the database using the
summary report function. Thus the user will notice that the actual records are slightly
different in appearance from the WordPerfect text files previously published.
CONDITIONS OF USE

database (2005 version) is available on CD-ROM at the cost of $30.00. The CD-ROM contains
three main data types:
1) Access Database

who do not have any version of Microsoft Access loaded onto their computer.
The Access database provides the user with flexibility to search and process data
contained within the database. In addition, the database is designed to allow the export of data to a GIS
system.
The Access 2000 database is sold on one CD-ROM, along with a User's Manual, the separate text files
as well as a set of maps showing mineral occurrence locations (see below).
