Welcome to the Distance Learning website.

Independent Study Option

The Independent Study Option (ISO) provides the opportunity and flexibility for both school-age and adult learners to study a wide range of compulsory and optional distance education courses from Grades 1 to 12.

The Independent Study Option (ISO) provides programming for Early and Middle Years students. Grade 1 to 8 students who are attending school or being homeschooled can register for ISO courses.

In the event that you leave the province on a temporary or permanent basis, the Independent Study Option (ISO) also provides the opportunity for continuing the study of Manitoba curriculum en route to receiving a Senior Years graduation diploma.

Adults requiring a more flexible schedule due to other commitments or obligations may opt to study Senior Years courses through the ISO to complete the requirements for either a Senior Years diploma or post-secondary admission.

A complete listing of ISO courses is found in the course description section of Independent Study Option. For further information about the ISO, call 800-465-9915 or email DLITU.

L'option d'études Independantes (OEI) (français)

The Independent Study Option also offers several courses in French. A complete listing of these courses is found in the course description section of the Independent Study Option (français).

Teacher Mediated Option (TMO)

The Teacher Mediated Option (TMO) supports the delivery of distance learning courses in partnership with host school divisions. TMO courses are scheduled into the regular school year and use a variety of technologies to assist students, including

  • consulting with an instructor twice per school cycle by audio teleconference
  • corresponding with an instructor between classes by facsimile or Internet

These courses are only available to school-based students.

For further information about the TMO call 1-866-706-5832 or email Debra Parker.
