The Gerontological Advisory Council
The Gerontological Advisory Council was formed by Veterans Affairs Canada in October, 1997 to advise the Department on policies, programs, services and trends impacting Canada's aging veteran population.

Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) offers a wide range of services and benefits to: qualified Veterans; Canadian Forces (CF) members; serving and discharged members of the RCMP; certain civilians; and their families.

Programs
The New Veterans Charter gives CF Veterans and their families access to services and programs that are tailor-made for them. This builds on the services and benefits that are now in place to help traditional war service Veterans live with dignity and independence.

The Government of Canada Supports its Troops at Home and Abroad
The Right Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada and the Honourable Greg Thompson, Minister of Veterans Affairs, today officially launched the Government's New Veterans Charter at a ceremony held on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.

Veterans' Week 2006 - Share the Story
The theme for Veterans' Week 2006 is Share the Story, highlighting, among many stories, the 50th Anniversary of the First United Nations Peacekeeping Force. We invite Canadians to share personal stories of remembrance as a way to develop a deeper understanding of the sacrifices and achievements of those who served Canada. These stories can be told by Veterans, relatives, CF members, youth; anyone who has a story to tell.
