Manitoba Conservation’s Annual Report

Background

The Aboriginal Relations Branch (ARB) was established to develop and maintain a more positive relationship with the Aboriginal Community.

Not until the establishment of this branch has there been such a concerted effort to involve the Aboriginal community in resolving issues and recognizing and integrating their input for natural resources into Manitoba Conservation programs. For the branch and department to be truly effective in achieving these objectives requires a concentrated effort and the development of proactive strategies and initiatives. This also requires the branch to participate and become involved in most aspects of the department programs and planning processes related to forests, lands, water, wildlife, and enforcement.

It is important that this level of commitment be recognized to meet the ever-increasing requirements of the Aboriginal community, non-Aboriginal community, and Manitoba Conservation.
