Municipal and School Board Elections - Local Elections 2004 October 18, 2008 is the next Local Election Day in Nova Scotia. Local elections take place every 4 years. Ballots may be cast for: Your Municipal Council - Council
Offices to be Elected Electors can vote for the number of candidates for council which equal the number of councilorsthat are to be elected from your polling district. Your municipality might also be having a plebiscite in the election.The plebiscite could be held in all or just part of the Municipality.
School Board Representatives - School Board Offices to be Elected
Electors can vote for only ONE of these school board offices, even if they meet the qualifications to vote for more than one office. Electors who are qualified to vote for either the African Nova Scotian Member of the school board or for the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial (CSAP) may choose to vote for the office, or to vote for their local member of the regional or district school board, but cannot vote for any other school board office at the same election. The council and school board elections are held under the authority of the Municipal Elections
Act and the Education
