Physical Activity, Sport and Recreation

image Over half of Nova Scotians are not active enough to enjoy health benefits. More disturbing is that kids today are less active than ever before, putting them at risk for a host of diseases now and in the future.

Unfortunately, inactivity is a way of life.  We spend more time at desk jobs and in cars, our activity limited by labour saving devices like lawnmowers and snow blowers, while our kids play video games and watch TV. People also face barriers to being active – lack of time, poor access to places and facilities to be active, and costs associated with gym memberships or registration for sport or recreational activities.
