Navy League, Army Cadet League and Air Cadet League

There are approximately 8000 Navy, 1000 Army Cadet and 3000 Air Cadet league members across Canada. Many have sons or daughters involved with the Cadet Program or are retired Canadian Forces members.

The national executive headquarters for the three leagues are co-located in Ottawa.

The Navy, Army Cadet and Air Cadet league are the supervisory bodies for all local sponsors who provide facilities and storage space to the cadet corps and squadrons. Local sponsors, who form the local level of the leagues work in partnership with cadet corps and squadron staffs.

The majority of league members are volunteers who donate their time to the Cadet Program. Most work directly at the community level with the cadet corps and squadrons in areas such as fundraising and cadet recruiting.

Sponsoring Committee Responsibilities

Sponsoring Committees work in partnership with cadet corps and squadron staff to ensure the viability of the unit.  Their support is intended to compliment the resources available from the Canadian Forces.

The responsibility for the sponsoring committees falls to the appropriate league - Navy League, Army Cadet League or Air Cadet League - as their Supervisory Sponsor. Though the general role of the sponsoring committees is the same for Sea Cadets, Army Cadets and Air Cadets, there are differences between the elements based on history and league structure.
