The CESARS database (Chemical Evaluation Search and Retrieval System) contains comprehensive environmental and health information on chemicals. It provides detailed descriptions of chemical toxicity to humans, mammals, aquatic and plant life, as well as data on physical chemical properties, and environmental fate and persistence.

CESARS contains profiles on chemicals of environmental concern. Each record consists of chemical identification information and provides descriptive data on up to 23 topic areas, ranging from chemical properties to toxicity to environmental transport and fate. Records are in English. CESARS database is provided by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Ontario Ministry of the Environment.

Database Highlights

  • authoritative reviews of health related topics such as acute and chronic toxicity to animals and humans, including carcinogenicity, mutagenicity and reproductive effects
  • detailed listings of data from a wide range of different toxicological and environmental investigations, including toxicity to aquatic species, plants, transformation processes, bioaccumulation, bioconcentration and transport
