Grain brains challenged in new quiz from CWB

Winnipeg - What is the main product made from durum wheat? What country buys the most Canadian barley? How much does a farmer make from a loaf of bread?

If you think you know (or want to find out), then take the CWB's new "Grain IQ" quiz and see where you rank against Canada's finest grain brains. It's all designed to raise awareness of the importance of Canada's grain industry.

"This quiz is the product of considerable research conducted to develop interesting and challenging questions," said Deanna Allen, CWB vice-president of Farmer Relations and Public Affairs.

"We need to increase public knowledge about our industry - which is really important to all Canadians. This may also provide a unique source of story ideas for journalists."

Controlled by western Canadian farmers, the CWB is the largest wheat and barley marketer in the world. As one of Canada's biggest exporters, the Winnipeg-based organization sells to over 70 countries and returns all sales revenue, less marketing costs, to Prairie farmers.
