Did you know?
In 1998, the Royal Canadian Mint struck a 99999 fine gold collector coin, 34 mm in diameter: the largest coin ever produced with so high a level of purity.

Canadian collector coins are among the most beautiful and sought-after coins in the world. With their expressive designs created by Canadian artists, our collector coins honour major national achievements and themes close to Canadians' hearts: our history, natural splendours, native wildlife and more. In keeping with Commonwealth traditions, the obverse of all Canadian collector coins is struck with the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Although they bear a denomination of $20, $50, $100 or $200, numismatic coins are not meant for circulation. Rather, each one is an intricate work of art, often worth far more than its face value. Many of these coins go to dedicated collectors; others are acquired by people seeking commemorative treasures and gifts.

Precious - in every sense
Crafted of gold, silver or platinum, the Royal Canadian Mint's collector coins are individually handled as they enter the presses. A single coin may be struck up to three times to achieve a crisp, flawless impression. Certain coins feature the Royal Canadian Mint's proprietary technologies: double holograms, selective plating, colouring or laser-enhancement. At every stage of production, these coins are inspected to ensure that they meet our exacting standards for purity, weight and finish.

We understand that our customers want the best possible long-term value for their coin gifts and collections. That is why we limit mintages and manage inventories when sale periods come to a close. Your coins become more precious - in every sense of the word - as time goes by.
