Consumers may use our new grid rate calculator to help determine their premium. However, because the premium grid sets the maximum chargeable premium for basic coverage, most drivers (approximately 80%) do not pay these premiums.  Go to more information about the grid rate calculator.

A STUDY OF PREMIUM STABILITY IN COMPULSORY AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE
In 1991 the Minister of Consumer and Corporate Affairs asked the Alberta Automobile Insurance Board to conduct a study on the stability of premiums for compulsory automobile insurance. The Study was released in September 1991 and contains two volumes. The Minister then asked Patricia Black, MLA to seek public response to the recommendations outlined in the Study.
