| | First off today, an early harvest with a lot of grain coming off quickly and at much warmer temperatures than normal, means more stored grain insect issues than in past years. Blaine Timlick, Entomologist at the Canadian Grain Commission, says as a result, stored grain in warmer piles, whether that be in a bin or on the ground, is more attractive to insect pests than it would normally be if it was at much lower temperatures. The number one nemesis this year--the rusty grain beetle.
