Albertans Win the Outstanding Young Farmers' Award

From the Dec 5, 2006 Broadcast of Call of the LandCall of the Land Home

Nominees from Alberta and Ontario are the winners of the National Outstanding Young Farmer Program. Christoph and Erika Weder own a purebred and commercial cattle farm near Rycroft. The Weders use solar powered watering systems and work with other producers to sell their beef directly to the consumer. Donald and Joanne Russell from Cobden, Ontario, are dairy farmers. Donald is also part owner of a hoof trimming business that services 20-thousand cows per year. The program had seven nominees from across the country. We’ll be hearing from Christoph Weder in an upcoming program.
