Traffic Safety & Advocacy

Your National Voice

From its inception in 1913, CAA has been an advocate for the rights of motorists and travelers in Canada. We continue to work with the Federal Government and other parties to ensure safer drivers on safer roads in safer vehicles.

As the automobile took on an even more important role in Canadian life and the economy, CAA stepped up its efforts to represent the interests of motorists across Canada and enhance the safety of all Canadians on our roads and highways.

Today, CAA is comprised of 9 clubs with a collective membership of about 4.7 million Canadians and we continue to campaign to ensure safer drivers on safer roads in safer vehicles. Our advocacy work is more significant than ever before, as mobility becomes an increasingly important issue for people of all ages.

Our advocacy efforts are built upon four central pillars:

A Fair Deal for Motorists

CAA believes motorists deserve a fair deal - safer, more forgiving roads in return for taxes they pay on gasoline. More...

CAA Thinks Green

CAA promotes green thinking through recommendations to government, industry and various planners, designers and engineers on a variety of issues that contribute to reducing our environmental footprint. Each of these recommendations contributes to promoting lower emissions, conservation of natural and financial resources and recycling non-renewable resources. More...

Championing the Consumer

CAA firmly believes in the rights of the consumer. Consumers deserve to be aware of programs, policies and technology affecting them on a daily basis, including but not limited to gasoline prices and taxes, implications of electronic data recorders (EDRs) and legislation that affects motorists and consumers.
