Diversity Hiring Do's and Don'ts

The WGC diversity committee has created a list called “The Do's and Don'ts of Diversity Hiring” as part of its ongoing efforts to promote the voices of Indigenous people, people of colour, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities within the Guild. Adam Barken, showrunner of Killjoys, notes that when reading the do's and don’ts some may react with a mix of of “Hey cool, I’ve done that” and “Oh crap… I’ve done that,” pointing out that we’re in a transition period in both our culture and industry. Wynonna Earp Wins People's Choice Award

Congratulations to Wynonna Earp showrunner Emily Andras and the season three writers, Shelley Scarrow, Noelle Carbone, Brendon Yorke, Caitlin D. Fryers, and Matt Doyle, on the show winning the People’s Choice Award for Sci-Fi/Fantasy show of 2018. Jim Burt Screenwriting Prize: Call for Entries

The Jim Burt Screenwriting Prize, presented biennially at the WGC Screenwriting Awards, was created to continue the work of the late Jim Burt in recognizing and nurturing new longform talent. The WGC is now accepting unproduced, longform, feature-length original script entries; deadline Friday Jan. 18 at 5:30 p.m. EST. You'll find the eligibility requirements and the entry form here.
