Indian Residential Schools Resolution Canada
Who we are:
Indian Residential Schools Resolution Canada is the federal department
dedicated to strengthening partnerships within government and with
Aboriginal people, religious denominations, and other citizens to
address and resolve issues arising from the legacy of Indian residential
schools.
What we do:
Indian Residential Schools Resolution Canada works with Aboriginal
people and other Canadians in initiatives that explore and acknowledge
our history, build programs and projects which address the needs of
people today, and strengthen our future.
How we do it:

We work with former students, families and communities in support of projects that promote healing and reconciliation. |
|

We move cases away from the courts and into other methods of dispute resolution that are faster and less painful for the individuals. |
|

We resolve claims in a more timely fashion, though where necessary, we also represent the Government of Canada in litigation. |

We liaise with federal departments, provincial governments, Aboriginals, churches and other interested groups in implementing the federal government's wider objectives of healing and reconciliation. |

We work
with church organizations to reach an agreement concerning their
shared liability to compensate victims of sexual and physical
abuse. |
