Business Awards
There are many business awards sponsored by a variety of organizations and companies. Here are some of the major awards for Alberta companies and business people:
Alberta Business Awards of Distinction
Media release: Alberta Business Awards of Distinction Winners Announced
The Alberta Business Awards of Distinction celebrate the Alberta business community's successes and contributions to the province. The awards are sponsored by the Alberta Chambers of Commerce as well as government and corporate bodies. The 2003 ceremony took place on February 19 at Edmonton's Shaw Conference Centre. Awards were given in these categories:

Alberta Chamber of Resources Awards
The Alberta Chamber of Resources [ACR] sponsors awards for Resource Person of the Year, ACR Reclamation Citation and student awards and scholarships.
Ambassador Awards
The Ambassador Awards recognize people and companies that promote Edmonton and create significant economic impact or exposure in the Edmonton capital region. Edmonton Economic Development Corporation sponsors the Ambassador Awards.
Astech Awards
The ASTech Leadership Awards Foundation sponsors awards that recognize leadership and achievement in Alberta science and technology.
Canadian Business Leader Award
The Canadian Business Leader Award recognizes distinguished professional achievements and contributions to the community. The University of Alberta Faculty of Business and its Business Advisory Council sponsor this award.

Distinguished Business Leader Award
The Distinguished Business Leader Award was established in 1993 and is sponsored by the University of Calgary, Faculty of Management and the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes outstanding leadership in business and the Calgary community.
E Awards
The E Awards are sponsored by Alberta Venture magazine and a number of other organizations. Employee contributions to business success are recognized in seven categories.
Emerald Award
The Alberta Emerald Foundation for Environmental Excellence sponsors the Emerald Award. It is given to Albertans who have made significant contributions to protecting or enhancing the environment. Individuals, not-for-profit organizations, businesses, industries, communities and governments may be nominated.
Manning Awards
The Ernest C. Manning Awards Foundation sponsors the Manning Awards. These annual awards are given to Canadian innovators who have developed new concepts, procedures, processes or products of benefit to Canada. Awards can be in any activity and include one $100,000 Principal Award, one $25,000 award of distinction, and two $5,000 innovation prizes. Young Canadian Innovation Awards are also presented.
Pinnacle Awards For Entrepreneurial Achievement
The Pinnacle Awards recognize people in Alberta's business community who have used determination and optimism to survive difficult and changing economic environments. Candidates with five to seven years of growth, survival, or success are recognized from diverse business areas. Up to five northern and five southern awards are presented at annual luncheons in Calgary and Edmonton. The awards, sponsored by Fraser Milner (formerly Milner Fenerty) were established in Calgary in 1987, before expanding to northern Alberta in 1992.
Small Business Owner of The Year
Small Business Owner of the Year awards are sponsored by the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce and the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. These awards are presented in late October during Small Business Week.
Women of Distinction
Women of Distinction Awards are sponsored by the YWCA of Calgary and the YWCA of Edmonton.
Young Entrepreneur Awards
The Young Entrepreneur Awards are sponsored by the Business Development Bank of Canada and presented to outstanding entrepreneurs in each province and territory. They were first presented in 1988 and augmented in 1994 by a mentor program.
