Talent Agency Licensing Checklist


 
 

To obtain your talent agency license:

Step 1: Complete the license application form

Step 2: Deliver or mail the following to:

  • Employment Standards Branch in Vancouver, located at: Deer Lake Center, 210 - 4946 Canada Way, Burnaby, B.C. V5G 4J6.

For Renewals:

  • The application form completed and signed by the Director(s), Officer(s), Owner(s) of the talent agency.
  • The Application Fee - Cheque or money order for $100 payable to the Director of Employment Standards.
  • If you are renewing your license, you will receive it by mail, within approximately two weeks after receipt of your application by the Branch.

For A New Talent Agency Licence:

  • The application form completed and signed by the Director(s), Officer(s), Owner(s) of the talent agency.
  • A copy of your standard contract.

If you are a new agency applying for a licence, a delegate from the Branch will contact you and interview you either in phone or in person, prior to determining if you will be issued a licence. New licence applications can take several weeks to be investigated.

If your licence is not approved, you will be informed by phone and if necessary by letter, stating the reasons your licence was not approved.

At the conclusion of the investigation, if it is determined that a talent agency licence will be granted, the talent agency must provide the annual license fee in the amount of $100 and must provide a bond in the amount of $725, payable to the Director of Employment Standards. (Your bond may be in the form of a certified cheque, an irrevocable letter of credit, or other security in accordance with The Bonding Act).

Step 3: When you receive your license

Please note the expiry date. Talent agency licences must be renewed annually. You can renew your licence by reapplying to the Employment Standards Branch office located at 210 - 4946 Canada Way, Burnaby, B.C. V5G 4J6 (Fax: 604 660-7047).

Please note the licence number. A talent agency must display its licence number on any contract or written agreement made with an actor, performer, extra or technical creative film person.
