Take Your Family Fishing

Where can I find information to help me get started fishing?

Fishing is a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and spend time with your children, introducing them to the great outdoors. It’s easy - if you’ve never fished you can learn along with your kids. It’s inexpensive - a simple rod and reel, with bait and a bobber, will get you off to a good start. And, most importantly, it’s fun!

The Take Your Family Fishing fact sheet provides information on fishing opportunities in Prince Edward Island. The Department of Environment and Energy also has maps of fishing locations across the province and can provide tips for first-time anglers looking for direction.

Other excellent sources of information are the Angling Summary and Catch Fishing, a "how to" guide to for amateur anglers. Copies of both publications are available from the Department of Environment and Energy.
