Rural Development Initiative
The Canadian Rural Partnership's Rural Development Initiative is no longer accepting applications. The Initiative was funded for a one-year period, which ended October 31, 2002. The Rural Development Initiative has not been extended beyond this date. We thank for your interest, please continue to visit our Web site for any future initiatives.

Canadian Agricultural Rural Communities Initiative
The Canadian Agricultural Rural Communities Initiative (CARCI)'s objective is to enhance the viability of agricultural rural communities, particularly those affected by changes in the agricultural sector. It was developed through consultations with rural community groups, non-governmental and municipal organizations. Applications were accepted until January 31, 2003 and no new applications are being accepted. We thank for your interest, please continue to visit our Web site for any future initiatives.

Community Planning Initiative
The Agricultural Rural Minority Language Community Planning Initiative was designed to help agricultural rural minority language communities (English-speaking rural minority language communities in Quebec and French-speaking rural communities in all other Canadian regions) build consensus on development options that draw on the community's assets and balance economic, social and environmental objectives. The Initiative has been allocated $1 million from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's Canadian Agricultural Rural Communities Initiative and $1 million from Canadian Heritage's Interdepartmental Partnership with the Official Language Communities over two years. Applications were accepted until January 31, 2003 and no new applications are being accepted. We thank for your interest, please continue to visit our Web site for any future initiatives.

Pilot Projects
Over a four-year period, the Pilot Projects Initiative supported community-based projects that tested new ways of promoting sustainable community development. These projects were funded in collaboration with the private sector, the voluntary sector, co-operatives, and various levels of government. The projects addressed priority areas identified by rural Canadians for focused attention, such as the need for better access to financial resources, better access to employment opportunities for youth and better program and service delivery in rural areas. The deadline for proposal submissions to the Pilot Projects Initiative was April 30, 2001. Proposals are no longer being accepted under the Pilot Projects Initiative.
