The Industry

WorkerDCC is an active player in Canada's construction industry. With 99 percent of our work going to public tender, rather than being single sourced, we are an important source for industry clients from coast to coast. Contractors and consultants know us and we know them.

In Canada, more than 94% of the construction industry is in Canadian hands. Ninety percent of these firms employ fewer than 20 people. According to Statistics Canada, for every one job that the construction industry creates, it will in turn generate three jobs in the general economy. For every $1 million invested in non-residential construction, fifteen to twenty person-years of employment are created.

Our business contributes to this part of the Canadian economy and by extension all Canadians who depend on construction or on one of its spin-off industries. We use tendering methods that maximize opportunity for the Canadian construction industry, and our processes are in line with the realities of running a small business in Canada.

In fact, we stay atop developments throughout the industry. Our employees are constantly upgrading their skills and knowledge, and DCC itself interacts with all the major industry associations, including the Association of Consulting Engineers of Canada, the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, the Canadian Construction Association and the Canadian Public Procurement Council.

DCC has been at the forefront of some of our industry's most innovative developments. We were early adopters of design-build; we were pioneers in partnering; alternative dispute resolution has become part of our culture; and we took an early interest in the impact of construction on the environment, most notably through 3 Rs Deconstruction.
