Question: I have information on what I think is a criminal activity, but on the mail/comments form I do not see a specific area where I can send this information. Should I send it anyway?

Answer: To report a crime, or for immediate police assistance, contact your local RCMP Detachment or the police service of jurisdiction in your area. If you reside outside Canada and assistance is required in Canada, your local police can request it from the appropriate Canadian agency. If you wish to submit information anonymously, when deemed appropriate, information is forwarded from this site to the appropriate area or agency - your geographic location is required for this process.

Question: How do I report what I consider to be criminal activity (e.g. hate literature) perpetrated over the Internet?

Answer: Crimes committed via the Internet are usually under the Criminal Code of Canada. The RCMP considers that criminal activities conducted via the Internet are traditional crimes that are committed through the use of an electronic communication device, and that investigations in such cases are the responsibility of municipal police departments. You should therefore file a complaint with your local police service and at the same time voice your concerns with the Internet Service Provider (ISP) hosting the offensive material. The Canadian Association of Internet Providers (www.caip.ca) would also welcome your comments or concerns in regards to Canadian ISPs.

Question: While surfing the Internet, I have come across what I believe to be child pornography. Where do I report it?

Answer: To report online sexual exploitation of a child (i.e. child pornography, luring, child sex tourism, child prostitution), please visit CYBERTIP.ca and complete and submit the Reporting Form.

Note: Please see instructions for capturing and copying e-mail message source information (full Internet headers).

You may also want to voice your concerns with the Internet Service Provider (ISP) hosting the offensive material. The Canadian Association of Internet Providers (www.caip.ca) would also welcome your comments or concerns in regards to Canadian ISPs.

Question: I want to request a certified criminal record check (work visa, immigration, border crossing permits) and need to know where to apply?

Answer: For information, please visit the Canadian Criminal Records Information Services website.

Question: My cousin's uncle was an RCMP member in the 1950s, and I think his daughter now works for the RCMP in British Columbia. Can you give me an e-mail address for her?

Answer: Due to privacy laws we do not provide this type of information through our website.

Question: I would like to join the RCMP. Where do I get information on the application procedure?

Answer: For information, please see our Recruiting page or contact your nearest recruiting centre.

Question: Where do I find a file on wanted persons?

Answer: For information, please see the "Wanted by the RCMP" page or check out other sites of interest from our links page.

Question: Where is the RCMP Musical Ride Touring?

Answer: Please see our Tour schedule.

Question: Where do I find the latest news release?

Answer: For national news releases, please check out our "Newsroom" page.

Question: How do I make an Access to Information request?

Answer: In order to make an Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Request to the RCMP, you will need to complete an ATIP request form. To obtain a copy of the request form, please visit the Treasury Board website.

Please note that in order to make an ATIP request, one must be present in Canada and the subject of interest must not be deceased for more than 20 years as the Privacy Act will prohibit any disclosure of the information.

Unfortunately, the RCMP ATIP Branch can only accept request forms delivered by mail (we currently can not accept your request form electronically or by fax).

To process your request, a $5.00 cheque or money order (payable to the Receiver General for Canada) must accompany each Access to Information request form.

After you have completed all the necessary steps outlined on the request form, please send the form by mail to:
