Basic Training

Your Reserve Career begins with the Basic Training. You will learn basic soldier skills such as how to wear a uniform, military exercise, using and maintaining personal weapons, cross country navigation, and standard first aid, while becoming familiar with the rules and regulations of the Canadian Forces. Basic Training is physically and mentally demanding course that all members of the Canadian Forces must successfully complete.

Basic Training consists of two courses, each of which are 19 work days long (four weeks). The courses are conducted consecutively. The course names are Basic Military Qualification (Reserve) and the Soldier Qualification (Reserve).
