SEARCHING

The Search engine allows you to browse the content of the Exchanges Canada Web site.

The search engine responds by listing exchange activities that meet the criteria you specified.

Here's how to use the Search engine:

1. Select any areas of interest from the list provided (you can pick more than one).
2. Enter any keywords or phrases in the search box. Examples of keywords include: a location (province or country where the activity takes place), an objective (e.g. travel, work, study) or a specific discipline (law, political science, etc.).
3. Press the Search button to start your search.
4. You can leave any or all of these criteria blank. If you leave them all blank, you will be given a list of all exchanges on the Web site. Note that if you specify more than one criterion, the search service will return exchanges which meet all criteria specified (as opposed to any).
5. Press the Search button to start your search.

Here's an example:

1. Select 'Learn French' from the list of areas of interest
2. Specify 'Quebec' in the keyword box.
3. Press the Search button.

You will then be presented with a list of exchanges geared to learning French containing the word "Quebec", and any other pages from the site which contain the keyword "Quebec". To view any of these items, simply double click on them.

Tip:

In selecting keywords to search on, remember that every topic has its own terminology. Think about the kind of exchange you might be interested in. What other words describe it?
