Parks Canada Student Employment Program
Parks Canada offers full-time secondary school, CÉGEP, college, technical institute and university students access to over 1,000 student jobs across Canada every year. Jobs normally run from May to September in areas such as the warden service, visitor services, assistance on the waterways, interpretive activities, systems work or office support. Students have an opportunity to learn about the Parks Canada and the federal government, and gain valuable work experience while developing and improving their employability skills. Students who worked for Parks Canada as a student during the previous summer may be re-hired by the same park or site. The manager will contact the student directly to check interest/availability in returning to the Agency for student work. To be considered for re-employment by Parks Canada, you must continue to meet the student program eligibility criteria and have worked in a student job with Parks Canada within the past year. PayYour pay will be based on rates set by Parks Canada in line with federal government student programs. If you're asked to travel, you'll also get your travel and accommodation expenses paid. How to ApplyParks Canada uses the following recruitment venue to hire students : Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP).Canada's National Parks and National Historic Sites hire students through the Public Service Commission of Canada's Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP). The core of the program is a computerized national inventory of students seeking a student job with the federal government. This inventory is administered by the Public Service Commission of Canada for approximately 90,000 names every year across Canada. There is no deadline for applying to the general inventory. However, certain locations hire students earlier than others. To apply, fill out the FSWEP application form on-line. Schools, public libraries, campus career centres, Human Resource Centres of Canada, the offices the Public Service Commission (PSC) of Canada and cyber-cafés are excellent venues for students to access the Internet. If access to the Internet is inconvenient or unavailable, you may obtain the FSWEP application form by contacting the Human Resource Centre of Canada or PSC office nearest you, or the Government of Canada's toll-free youth information line at 1-800-935-5555. The addresses are listed in the blue pages of your telephone directory, under Government of Canada. Send your application to the PSC after completion.
