Welcome

Chief of the Defence Staff

To all new family members:

It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to the Canadian Forces family. While the Canadian Forces offers members a very challenging and rewarding career, there is an equal challenge in providing an appropriate balance between military requirements and family needs. The purpose of the Family web site is to bring together the information that will be of most interest to family members and provide a greater understanding of the military life and how this is applicable to you.

At each base/wing, we have tried to provide a strong sense of community, comprehensive programs, and a secure environment. Military Family Resource Centers provide a focal point within the military community for families living both on and off base. I encourage you to make the most of this valuable resource at your disposal.

Your family may be posted to many locations within, and possibly outside of Canada. As you share in these postings, you will make many lifelong friends, undertake great adventures, and see Canada and the world with a new appreciation. Make the most of this time, and enjoy each experience.

Once again, a wholehearted welcome to our family.

Chief Warrant Officer of the Canadian Forces

As the Canadian Forces Chief Warrant Officer, I wish to share in the welcome extended by the Chief of the Defence Staff.

Family members may find it difficult to understand the requirements placed upon military members. I encourage you to use the information provided to gain a greater understanding of the Department of National Defence, the Canadian Forces, and military occupations. Armed with this knowledge, you will be able to see the key role that each CF member fills to ensure the safety and sovereignty of our country.

Canadian Forces members are called out frequently to participate in operations and deployments. I encourage you to seek out the numerous support mechanisms available; you don’t have to wait for an emergency to occur. These programs are in place for you, and help is only a phone call away.

I wish you the best, and hope that you will enjoy being a part of our military family.
