Retirement HomesRetirement Homes - Complaints Response and Information Service (CRIS)The Ontario government has taken an important step in protecting the health and well being of seniors in retirement homes by funding the Ontario Retirement Communities Association(ORCA) to establish the first province-wide retirement home Complaints Response and Information Service (CRIS). CRIS was launched by the Ontario Retirement Communities Associationon October 17, 2000. By calling 1-800-361-7254 (toll-free), seniors, their families, and retirement home residents can receive up-to-date information about the full range of service and accommodation options, or get help to resolve a complaint about any retirement home in Ontario. The ORCA Web site gives information about their Complaints Response and Information Service, and also lists for consumers the type and frequency of unresolved complaints against any retirement home. Check out the website at www.orca-homes.com The ORCA complaints response and information service complements the ongoing role of municipalities to ensure that retirement homes meet provincial standards for public health, fire and building safety. |
