ANSWER:

Please contact your local stationery supply store. The printer and distributor of PPSA registration forms is Dye & Durham Co. Inc. If you are a one-time user, you may obtain a form from any of the PPSR offices.

QUESTION:

How can a registration be removed from the PPSR system?

ANSWER:

By registering a financing change statement designated as a discharge, or through a Court Order directing the Registrar to remove the registration from the PPSR system.

QUESTION:

I paid off my loan but the PPSA registration is still showing in the system. What can I do?

ANSWER:

A registration that is discharged will still show up in the PPSR system up to sixty days after the discharge is filed, however the status should appear as “Discharged”. After 60 days, the file is removed from the PPSR system. If the debt is paid off but no discharge has been registered in the PPSR system, please contact the Secured Party listed in the financing statement.

QUESTION:

What is the Personal Property Security Assurance Fund?

ANSWER:

This is a Trust Account in the Consolidated Revenue Fund. A portion of the fees received under the Personal Property Security Act is paid into this fund. Compensation from this fund may be claimed under certain conditions. Please refer to the Personal Property Security Act for relevant information. You can view/download a copy of the Act by visiting the e-Laws website.

QUESTION:

How can I make a claim against the Personal Property Security Assurance Fund?

ANSWER:

A person claiming to be entitled to payment of compensation out of the Assurance Fund shall file an application with the Registrar of Personal Property, setting out the person's name and address and particulars of the claim. Please refer to the Personal Property Security Act for relevant information.
