Dr. Axel Meisen ends his term as Memorial’s seventh president on Dec. 31, 2007. He was first appointed in 1999. During his time, the university
has experienced much growth: research funding has increased; student enrolment has risen; new innovative programs and disciplines have been created; and new services to students have been introduced. Dr. Eddy Campbell, Memorial’s vice-president (academic), will serve as acting president, effective Jan. 1, 2008. Here, in this special interview, Studio 1024 Executive Producer Ivan Muzychka sits down for an in-depth one-on-one conversation with Dr. Meisen to talk about his time at Memorial and his plans for the future.
