Deregulation Initiative

As part of government’s deregulation initiative, the Policy, Legislation and Assessment Branch (PLAB) has led a comprehensive three year program to reduce the red tape and regulatory burden associated with the ministry’s statutes, regulations and policies. The deregulation initiative concluded on June 4, 2004.

MSRM has consistently exceeded its regulatory reduction targets:

All Program Areas have now completed their deregulation workplans. The Policy, Legislation and Assessment Branch (PLAB) will continue to lead this work as efforts shift towards developing ‘smart regulations’.
